A short explanation

One reason I have been sparing about posting images of work in progress is because they have necessarily gone through some truly hideous stages. And whereas I know that a lot of it is underpainting I plan to pull up selectively later, it's hard to convey that until it happens. For example the garish red and black became the painting my Dad is looking at below.

I'll do my best to shoot & post some before I take off, but have to wait for Tom for proper images of the larger ones in particular.

Your link: Wow--I really had no clue just how many layers it takes to get to a final piece. The first three images are so different, but I can see how they add up to the depth and "glow" in the outcome!
