Hope Kroll

I had seen Kroll's collages before, but eva eun-sil han directed me to the video of her process, which is mesmerizing.

Wow--she is amazing. Also, note to self: obtain cuticle scissors!

That's funny, I did the same thing. (They are sort of expensive - who knew?) I would love to rifle (okay riffle) through her boxes of cut images.

Watching the video, I was reminded of interviews I read with a bunch of scientists. They were saying they were lucky to grow up before anyone thought to "cure" them of their obsessive-compulsive tendencies, since their careers had hinged on them. Her counting the arrows cracked me up.

Those arrows were waaay out of hand. I also keep wondering how the heck she has time to assemble the astomishing collages when it obviously takes forever to amass all the clippings.

Good you thought to get the expensive scissors. I was advised the same thing, but did not expect the price tag to be $13+ dollahs.

Astomishing is, of course, a 19th-century medical term, in case you were snickering.

It puts me in the mood for a sammich. Louise and I are moving slowly today. One of us needs to wash dishes and change the bedding and I suspect it's going to be me. She will supervise and work on her bone project.
